Adirondackwoolery produces fine Adirondack yarns, fleeces, artisan apparel, artisan kits and workshops in handspinning, knitting, felting, and rughooking.
Adirondackwoolery is a cottage fiber industry in the tiny Adirondack town of Newcomb, New York.
Started over thirty years ago, by Adirondack native, Judy Blanchette, the business was called Upper Hudson Woolery. Judy handspun and handknit custom wool sweaters and apparel for visiting hikers and outdoor enthusiasts from her own spinning flock of sheep.
In 2005, Pam McLoughlin, a retired art teacher, joined Judy spinning, hand-dyeing, knitting, felting and rughooking. The two were artisans in residence for a week at the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake. They sold traditional fiber art at mountain crafts festivals and shops in the Hudson Valley and Adirondacks.
The ladies recently changed the business name to Adirondackwoolery to take advantage of folks' natural preference for Adirondack made goods and the Internet's natural preference for all sites at the beginning of the alphabet.
Adirondackwoolery is open from 12-5 Saturdays & Sundays or by appointment. We accept cash or checks, and will soon accept credit cards through PayPal.

Knitting, Spinning Lessons and Charity Knitting
The shop is open every Saturday and Sunday from 12-5 or by appointment. New lambs are on the ground and adults have been shorn.
Beginning or intermediate knitters or spinners can phone 582-2144 to take lessons on weekends at the store for $15 an hour. Classes will be limited to three or fewer students at a time so each can get plenty of individualized instruction. Spinning wheels are available for rent for $50 per month while taking lessons.
We've been spinning lots of new luxury yarns and novelty yarns for handknitters and weavers and have a big selection of colorful rug and sock yarns.
Rughookers will be happy to try out our new Oxford fine gauge rughooks. If you're looking for a little gift for a fiber friend we also have a fun selection of hooking and knitting pins and wonderful sachets filled with our own herbal moth and mouse repellant. Do a knitting needle inventory using the link at the right and then visit us for our very reasonably priced bamboo DPNs and circulars and handmade wooden needles.
Knitters of any and all skill levels are invited to join us for Charity Knitting on the third Sunday each month from 3-5 p.m. Bring your needles. Check the Charity Knitting page to the right for our current project. We'll supply the yarn and patterns and arrange for projects to be delivered to our chosen charity. Projects will be chosen to engage knitters on any skill level. It's a good time to come and get a free lesson or just a few smart tips from the more experienced knitters in the group.
Sweet Tooth?
Adirondack Great Camp Cookies are now available in our shop on Pine Tree Road. There are 5 varieties of delicious cookie mixes in attractive, rustic packaging. A great hostess gift or ADK souvenir. Because of a little known old New York State law , we will be serving "Mary's Durants", delicious oatmeal, chocolate chip cookies, at our next workshop. This old law mandates that whenever two or more women congregate in public chocolate must be served.
For info on Durant's, artisan bird feed and microwave dog biscuits, visit www.greatcampcookies.com
