The Put N Take rug, a quilter’s log cabin design, hooked by Pam McLoughlin, is a homey homage to the people of Newcomb, New York in the High Peaks of the Adirondacks.

Newcomb people love their town dump where they used to meet to watch Dan Tefoe’s bears.

The dump has a special “shop” for Newcombers called the Put N Take, (a.k.a. the Newcomb Walmart.)

No money involved, no clerks.

You put in stuff you don’t need and take out stuff you do. Pam won’t elaborate on what she put, but what she took was nearly all the woolen materials in this rug. Newcombers might recognize their old woolen hunting jacket, a pair of warm woolen slacks with a coffee stain, a church skirt that maybe got a little too tight…
